KATHAK
Under
the classical dances in India KATHAK is the most ancient
and popular stile of dance. In ancient times Kathak
was a kind of telling storys. Storyteller, so called
"KATHAKAR" have been wandering from place
to place in the whole of India and told the stories
about the greatness of gods. In addidtion of course
it was also a spiritual discipline. In the later centuries
this stile of dance get a classical character by adopting
the guidelines which are inherent in the Natayasastra,
the authentic textbook of classical indian dance. Kathak
does not only focus on the technical aspect (Nritt)
of classical cance. It also gives to the dancer a big
scope of freedom for improvisation. This fusion together
with the unbelievable richness of beautiful expressions
of hands, feets and the whole body makes Kathak so unic
under the classical dances. To dance is a spiritual
way of liberation of the human soul and a prayer to
god. The systematic and rhythmic language of the body
enables the dancer to express rhythm direct over the
whole body in an intensiv, conscious and most beautiful
way. It might give him the experience of being a conscious
part of the ever evolving creation which experiences
the dance as a lively, creative and basic prinziple
of life.
To start with Kathak at TARANG no basic knowledge is
neccessary. The education is according to the classical
indian tradition. But even to this high approach the
learning can be enjoyed through the systematic teachingstructure
which is adopted to the western conditions. The interference
of knowledge is experienced by the students as enjoyable
and easy. Regular practice of Kathak may restore also
demaged poisture, and wrong movements of the body. It
may release blocked energies in helps to coordinate
body and mind in its funktions. Its an adventure in
the faszinating World of a foreighn country and discovers
hidden corners of the own being. Dance is a means which
is able to open doors to more joy and liveliness.

in Germany there might be very less interest for students
outside of Germany. We feel it makes no sence to go
in details on this site.
